Of course he deserves his day in court.
// I agree with Togo. The most contrived line to fit the rhyming pattern is;
'Children singing Christian rhyme' //

Jackie - criminal blasphemy is off the law books

and oddly enough - no - confusingly enough
// Can't possibly be true.It was investigated by SYP//
does have a case law background ....

"Oh god you cant believe a thing they say" has been tried as a defence in court - West Mids serious crime squad - about which at least one reader remembers - they are still hearing appeals. And grannies will be relieved the hear that their Lordships ruled that being involved in corruption did not mean that one's evidence was tainted for ever after. [ the corruption had to touch the case and not the witness ]

and retro isnt it part of the police canteen culture - 'if I lie in court no one will ever believe what I say afterwards, so I better tell the truth' ?
Ummm....what the victim, if there is one ? doesn't he deserve his day in court as well ?

Naomi...the only thing that is sad about this case, is the Police's incredibly inept and amateurish handling of the affair. Its difficult to see how much worse they could have behaved. I am not in any way surprised that the force concerned this is the SYP.

I am reminded of the many comments that were made about others, when it was first mentioned that they was not all it seemed.

Lets leave it up to the CPS, to decide whether to proceed or not.
Mikey, //Lets leave it up to the CPS, to decide whether to proceed or not.//

After all your ranting, a wise decision.
Mikey...they both deserve their day in court.
Naomi...why is that when I post on here, its a rant, but when you do it, its adding to the debate ?

There is nothing remotely "ranting" about my posts on the two recent threads about this case. I have made considered and measured comments, and have repeatedly said that the CPS should be allowed its due process. So, please stop being so superior and "always right"
Mikey, //I have made considered and measured comments//

Right...

That would be a first!
;o)
// Mikey...they both deserve their day in court //

erm umm no
the defendant who has to pay for his own defence usually doesnt want his day in court - to defend his honour etc blah blah blah, leave with a reputation unsullied etc blah
because he has basically to show a negative - he didnt do it
and also pay for it

and it is a lot of money - one to ten thou a day - this is an honour no one deserves. Costs are hardly ever awarded when the defendant is acquitted

When he has been :
1) arrested
2) charged
3) tried in a court
4) found guilty or not guilty

then, and only then, will I pass comment. This trial by AB (and certain members in particular) is disgraceful.
Well said, Janbee.
What I find disgraceful is that this is splashed all over the newspapers when he has not yet been charged. If and only if there is a charge and it goes to Court then it is in the public realm - until then it is merely an allegation. We all know what happened to Christopher Jefferies when he was "under suspicion". The police should keep their traps shut and not fuel "trial by press".
Good idea janbe...lets hope that the Police have done a good job, and that the CPS consider this properly, and then we will all know.
Barmaid...the press have freedom in this country, so lets not shoot the messenger.

Having said that, the Police haven't covered themselves in glory of this case, that for sure.
The thing is, when it goes into the press.... I know a lot of people will judge CR on that but also it opens the gates to other people that may have been assaulted or attacked by this man, equally it opens the gates to people trying to scam some compensation.

Their are arguments on both sides.

Personally I have no idea weather he did it or not!
there not their!
The newspapers shouldn't report things like this. If the case doesn't come to court there will still be this hanging over him.
My OH knew Cliff and hung around with The Shadows back in the 60s and is utterly convinced he did not commit the crime.
Ratter, also whether not weather ;)

Yes, he a committed Christian Cloverjo.

It is beyond belief that anyone so religious could be accused of such a thing.

Oh, hang on ....
