and as usual we fall for it

...oh great...so its not just syrian refugees...anything to make sure this countrys identity is trashed one way or another, obviously we havent got enough north africans piling in here
And how long before these children miraculously remember they have parents who according to human rights laws means these parents will be given the right to stay in UK ? or parents who suddenly remember they have kids and say that theyre here and should be with them ?

The people/children in the link won't have the opportunity to stop off at a 'first safe country'.

I agree we have problems and more people add to those simply by stretching resources at the start, but I cannot hand on heart say 'not my problem' when it comes to suffering children .
Here or overseas.

Here is a muslim charity already caring for Syrian orphans. Our gov could contribute & thereby hold some sway, if necessary.

The is the perennial problem. You may feel that your heart tells you what the morally good thing to do is, but it may not be wise to have that override your head, which should tell you that doing so will create major problems both now and further down the line.
The best option is not necessarily the one you wish was the best option. Ideally everyone should be destined to stop at the nearest SAFE country, and worldwide finance should be earmarked to help make the temporary camps safe and habitable (although obviously not luxurious).
And in addition thought, hopefully followed by action, should be given to solve whatever is the cause of the problem so that it can be sorted and everything go back as it should be as soon as possible.

Then why be selective, why not take in destitute children from not just North Africa but, the street children of India, those from the whole of South East Asia, then perhaps we can start welcoming them in from South America?
Perhaps then in future years, and when they become our masters, they will be good enough to provide food banks for the once indigenous populations of these Islands.

This country was also a war zone, and I can never remember a whole lot of children who's parents had been killed, yes some were made fatherless due to the men fighting for the peace and freedom of their country, but the mothers stayed with their children and the Luftwaffe were not selective enough to able them to just kill off the mothers.

dave50...there is a simple answer to the homes crisis here in Britain, and its one that I have advocated many times before
........we need to build more homes, for more people to rent at affordable prices....call them Council Housing if you like. It would provide much needed housing, give employment to our out-of-work construction workers, and provide for a good, solid housing infrastructure for the future.
Its what happened post-WW2 and it can happen again. It just needs political will.

I don't know much about the adoption business but it seems to take ages to fix an adoption up. Friends of mine who have gone down that route have said what a lot of hoops they had to jump through and how long it took.
Not all of these poor kids will need adoption though. But they do need to be taken out of the dangerous and unhygienic squatter camps they are living in at present. Maybe some of them could be reunited with relatives at a later date. Maybe some already have relatives that live here, or in other parts of Europe.
But something needs to be done on a humanitarian basis. Its disgusting that 10,000's of little kids are being treated this badly, and every nation in Europe, and beyond can do something to help, not just us here in Britain.
