My personal opinion is no , but if the sporting fraternity want to adopt one for teams purely representing England then that's fine.

Jerusalem.
Why not? The current national anthem is little more than a dirge. Glad Scotland has it's own anthem at sporting events.
No we are all one country united kingdom I think we should have 1 anthem

So Scotland should sing GSTQ too then?
I don't see why each nation of the UK can't use the National Anthem, even when we're not all playing under the same flag. I think that the anthem can be uplifting and inspirational, depending on the musical arrangement. It doesn't have to be a dirge.
Having said that, I do like Flower of Scotland, played when Scotland wins something. I wish we had something similar for England.
If we have to have anthems can we please have ones that are a bit more cheery than the present dirges.
God Save the Queen is a dirge.
Flower of Scotland is even worse.
The Terry and June theme tune?
Land of hope and Glory. Yes we should, Scotland and Wales only really feel moved by their own.
"I do like Flower of Scotland, played when Scotland wins something."

Hmmm...surprised you can remember how it goes then !
If we were to have our own anthem for sporting purposes, the words would have to be simple so that our footballers could remember them.
@TTT

Please do me a favour and drop that ****** apostrophe!
Yes, I think it should.

I would also go with Jerusalem.

'Land of Hope and Glory' or 'God Save the Queen' should be for events that the UK participate in.
Yes! Jerusalem. England should have its own parliamentary assembly too. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
Yes.

The current anthem is not only a dirge but, unlike other countries, glorifies
persons rather than the Nation.
It is all about God saving the reigning monarch.
Just listen to the French & German anthems !
I wouldn't want to emulate the French and ask for the furrows to run with the blood of our enemies though.
I agree with Jerusalem.
"There'll slways be an England", works for me, reference to country lanes. If the other members of the UK can sing of their bits , valleys, flowers etc. if and when they win something then so should us English.
