Oh so just because it happened to be from uncouth Fry it is perfectly acceptable?

Note the BBC's response, first they address him as Stephen instead of using his surname as is generally the case with others, then go on to excuse him because that is how he is.

/// “Stephen, whose irreverence and style is extremely well-known to
viewers, ///

And what could be said regarding the Independence's reporting:

/// In happier news, Fry chose the Baftas weekend to make his first public appearance with his new husband Elliott Spencer, who watched on from the wings as the actor won the affections not just of Birdman stars Michael Keaton and Ed Norton, but also a kiss from Cuba Gooding Jr. ///

All lovies together, yuk, please pass the sick bucket.

he swore, he is saint Stephen after all !!!!! I'm getting a bit sick of him on tv. he should take a break.
Manners and/or morals???
AOG

Stephen Fry introduced Tom Cruise at about 10:40 (it must've been that late because Tom Cruise was presenting the award for 'Best Film', which is always towards the end of the BAFTAs).

I've been lucky enough to have been to the BAFTAs, and honestly - Stephen Fry does a bang up job presenting (audience laughter is oddly quiet on the TV broadcast compared to the live event).

I can totally understand your disgust at his style of presenting and him parading his new husband in public. I think it might be partly a generational thing.

Personally I think it's cute when newlyweds are still in that giddy first stage. Don't you?
It's immoral to swear now? Get into 2015!!
Bazile
He was extremely funny in Jeeves & Wooster .

Apart from that i cant really see why he is described as 'one of Britain’s best-loved house-hold names '

What else has he achieved in the entertainmemnt world ?

Is this really about the swear word or the male/male kissing? I have my suspicions.
I saw it and thought uh oh, but personally I'm not fussed about swearing particularly after the watershed.
There was a hint of sarcasm in my post, Zac...
Oh, and another point...

The word 'luvvies' has been bastardised to mean 'all actors'.

This is not what it means.

By any stretch of the imagination, Cuba Gooding Jnr is absolutely not a luvvie.

Nor is Ed Norton or Michael Keaton.

Use of the word 'luvvie' is catching up with 'leftie' in the rank of words that have become meaningless by overuse and misapplication.
and more than a hint of homophobia in the OP.
Did you not read that the Bafta's are not a BBC production. It is no more the BBC's job to aplogise for Fry than it is for the BBC to apologise for Wayne Rooney being useless and ugly.

Is there a point to your post?
I had no idea there were so many fragile shrinking violets around. Despite rumours to the contrary, Mary Whitehouse, it seems, is alive and kicking!
We have a few "amateur Stephen Frys" on AB and they are just as unfunny and boring.
Sqad...who would that be then?
Had the offending words been spoken by someone the naysayers do like, I wonder how many complaints would have ensued here? This all seems rather personal to him.
I think his sexuality and the fact he kissed a man on the lips is the main issue. The swear word issue is a smoke screen.

Look how some of these men talk to each other on here. I very much doubt they'd be offended by a couple of swearwords. And certainly not a policeman!!
I never really got that expression "amateur XYZ"-people rarely get money because of who there are. Usually it's for acting or presenting.
I may have got this wrong, but swearing was at one time the province of the "working class" indicating a poor standard of education and only a basic grasp of the English language.

Now however it seems to have turned on it's head and is now in the province of the well educated intellects.
Jesus was famously kissed on the lips, Umm.
