Oh so just because it happened to be from uncouth Fry it is perfectly acceptable?

Note the BBC's response, first they address him as Stephen instead of using his surname as is generally the case with others, then go on to excuse him because that is how he is.

/// “Stephen, whose irreverence and style is extremely well-known to
viewers, ///

And what could be said regarding the Independence's reporting:

/// In happier news, Fry chose the Baftas weekend to make his first public appearance with his new husband Elliott Spencer, who watched on from the wings as the actor won the affections not just of Birdman stars Michael Keaton and Ed Norton, but also a kiss from Cuba Gooding Jr. ///

All lovies together, yuk, please pass the sick bucket.

/// Expelled from 2 schools and 3 months in prison. Bad bad man, he should have been hung. ///

Well if that is not serious in your book, then it just goes to prove the difference between us when it comes to acceptable morals and behaviour.
is this again AOG getting easily offended?, we must remember this the next time he tells us that people getting easily offended is a major problem.
So you think someone who spent three months in prison should have been written off? Never been given another chance?
maybe his charity work has atoned for his misdemeanors, maybe but then again getting expelled from school is pretty serious, I am sure it held him back.

/// Your original post seemed to comprise two things
The claim that the BBC defends the "lefties" and protects them while throwing the "righties to the wolves" - which doesn't seem to have any basis in fact
And the other bit looked suspiciously like homophobia ///

I cannot take any blame for the way that your mind works, or for that enormous chip on your shoulder.
I don't think it was a stupid thing to say. I thought it was an EXCELLENT post !
AOG - how about taking some blame for the way your mind works? Could you clarify exactly why a bunch of actors kissing makes you feel sick?
"I cannot take any blame for the way that your mind works, or for that enormous chip on your shoulder. "

Perhaps you are piqued at not getting snogged by "Cuba Gooding" whoever he/she may be :-)
You are a past master AOG at lighting a blue touch paper and shrugging your shoulders when the bang goes off :-)
Zacs I'm very open-minded but watching two men kiss on the lips IN PUBLIC makes me feel sick -what they do in private should be kept just that. It was not done affectionately it was done for effect, and obviously worked.

You will find that ummm will accuse most people of being stupid or unfunny apart fro herself but there again she finds great hilarity in a stupid unnecessary word said by an individual she dotes. Says a lot for double standards and hypocrisy from this lady.
Do you have personal space issues, AOG?
Maybe the BBC won't bid for the rights to show the BAFTA Awards in future - maybe just a rolling list of the winners with some light classical music in the background

Then those invited to the party can enjoy themselves.
I know retro and she's certainly on top form today !
Retrocop...who do I dote on? If you mean Stephen Fry then you are very much wrong.
Wow.....the knives are out today.

Is the weather making everyone feel crotchety?

Personally, I adore Stephen Fry and especially his irreverence on these occasions.....
@AOG,

I used to think that "luvvies" applied exclusively to a small clique of 'ac-torrrrs', of the stature of Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud, Ralph Richardson, Michael Hordern and other, eminent Shakespearians.

To be fair, any back-slapping mutual-appreciation society now earns this epithet and that is partly why it has become a derogatory term.

Odd that you weigh such a light slap across the face of a word against a list of labels which have much stronger meanings. Are you saying that these words have been used against you? (On AB, I presume?)

ummm

Just to let you know, I have agreed with you in the past and I have annoyed you greatly on a couple of threads.

However the description that retrocop posted about you at 16:22 is balderdash.

(I really like the word 'balderdash'...thinking of working it into General conversation this year).
AOG

Out of interest - I can't tell if you were offended by Stephen Fry's language.

Were you?

Or do you still find it tiresome when people get offended by 'every little thing nowadays'?
Lol...thanks...I don't think you've ever annoyed me :-)

(she put my bowl of stew down to type that and now the cats eating it)
(just put my bowl down)
