Why would I make an effort to understand pleasure from cruelty? That makes no sense.....

I don't love you tonight.....but I'll sleep on it.....x
Then take a picnic into the countryside and shoot clays, DB.
better still, take a girl to chase. ;)
Interesting - hats off to divebuddy, in all my years debating blood sports regularly on here, I have never met anyone who openly admits to shooting for pleasure.

Although my view is diametrically opposed, I can respect his honesty, and we can agree to differ.

Debate here us largely redundant, we have two opposing views that are never going to meet.
Morning, Andy......don't give up.....we may wear him down yet..... ;-)
gness - "Morning, Andy......don't give up.....we may wear him down yet..... ;-)"

I doubt it!

One fact I have learned about the difference between country dwellers and town dwellers is their fundamentally different attitude to animals.

For city dwellers, animals are either pets, or food sources they prefer not to think about.

For country dwellers, animals are either livestock for slaughter, working animals, or pests - they have none of the inbuilt sentimentality that city people have.

Given that each approach is inclucated at birth, and ech is brought up with his own perception as being the normal one, there is really no commong ground on which to meet.

City people will regard country people as barbarians, country people will regard city people as soft townies who don't understand the countryside.

Not much of a meeting point between them methinks.

divebuddy - "A-H, You have some very strange views about country people. Do you really think we don't have pets. Come on. Hell, I even feed the wild birds."

Apologies, I did omit pets, which I intended to include.

I realise that my post omitting pets does make country people look like a bunch of unfeeling graspers, and clearly they are not - unless they are killing things for fun of course!!

I for one am happy to agree that people shoot for the fun of it, and it is not in any way attahced to any inadequacies, of any kind(!), but simply a pleasure which I personally to not understand, or agree with.

As I said, no common ground, but again, my respect for your honesty, which is a first for me on this subject on this site.
Goodness, DB.....when did I say anything like that.....I don't know whether or not you have a dick.....I have no idea what causes you to ejaculate....

But I do know that killing and enjoying killing birds is perverted.
What seems to annoy people is not that animals are killed, but that there are people who enjoy doing it.

If you object to pheasants being shot (and are not a vegetarian/vegan) I'd ask why you don't also object to cows being zapped through the head with bolt guns so you can enjoy a steak.
You may have a point, Ludwig....or not.....☺
Keep it up gness, I'm on your side x
// You may have a point, Ludwig....or not //

What's your answer then?
Killing birds for pleasure may be perverted but like many things which others find perverted, it is very popular. Our offices (on a private estate) sometimes feel like somewhere on Salisbury plain when some 'perverts' gather to shoot birds bred for their apparent pleasure.

If the b4stard are using tanks, that does seem a bit out of order Zacs. The birds at least deserve a fighting chance.
It can't be normal to kill anything for fun. You can shoot at other targets. Drag-hunting is better and faster than fox-hunting. It can only be for the pleasure of killing? Foxes are/have been brought up from Cornwall for hunting, so the vermin excuse doesn't work, either.
ha ha. egg / shells - there's a joke in there somewhere.....

I'd like an answer to this question at some point..

If you are a meat eater who objects to pheasants being shot, why do you not also object to cows being shot?
