She is still the monarch of plenty of countries that are not part of the UK/GB.

I dare say she quite likes her Scottish holiday home...

I should think she'd be delighted to remain Queen of GB and NI - half her family have well-used residences north of the border, they all like holidaying in Scotland.

Should there be an independant Scotland she will still be Queen of Scotland as per her descent from the Scottish Royal familly

Between James I (VI) and the act of Union monarchs were Kings and Queens of both England and Scotland- reversing the act of Union wouldn't change that

It would take an act of pariament in Scotland to strip her of that title and I presume the pledge is that that wouldn't happen as part of the Independance plans

On 20th October, 1604, King James VI of Scotland was publicly proclaimed the very first "King of Great Britain" unifying the crowns. He was, of course, Scottish, so our current Royalty should - if anything - be seen as essentially tied to the part of Britain north of the border rather than south. But never mind, TTT, the Jocks don't mind your sharing Her Maj!

If the Scots are keep on keeping her I wonder if that will extend to them putting their hands in their pocket to pay for the Royal list or whatever it is called these days? and will they want a share of her tax contributions?

I suspect the answer to A is no and the answer to b is yes.

she is on the record somewhere as saying she was crowned Queen of the United Kingdom, and some took it as a sign that she might abdicate to avoid going back to Queen of England.

James VI and I was the first to declare by act of parliament what he should be called. He would have been King James of England otherwise without a numeral (like Stephen and Anne)

This is one of many questions Mr Salmond has not asked (or at least not provided an answer to). Among others he has not addressed are:

- Whether the EU will still have Scotland as a member
- If it does, whether Scotland will be forced to adopt the euro.
- Whether the Bank of England wants to allow the Scots to use the pound.
- Whether the Bank of England minds being the lender of last resort to Scottish financial institutions.
- Whether NATO will allow Scotland to remain a member bearing in mind its opposition to nuclear weapons.
- Whether the UK will accept a borderless arrangement between Scotland and England.

There's plenty more to challenge about Mr Salmond's Utopian vision for his "nation" but I'm sure you get the gist.

NEWJUDGE, there is already a virtually open border between the UK and a foreign country so why would there be objections to another one?

They gave it to us, Hopkirk - I remember opening an account with them when I first lived in Scotland in 1972.

They were an amazingly old-fashioned bank in those days - everything was done with passbooks, and the manager wouldn't give me a cheque book in case I spent my money.

If anyone thinks that Liz will have any say at all in the Scottish Independence vote, is living in the land of Nod ! She is Queen of whatever she is told to be Queen of...she has no say whatsoever, and quite rightly so.

It wasn't so long ago that her ancestors were the family of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, which is a bl00dy long way from Hadrian's wall.

She is just a figurehead, no more and no less. Thora Hird could have done the job for a lot less money.
