"Would you leave your area if you found yourself in the minority? "

Simple answer, yes. And I've done this once already.
So would I, B00.
Boo, thats quite interesting, wonder if anyone else is honest enough to say so.
sorry tony, crossed post.
No prob, em.
Tony, would you really, if so why?
Answer in a while em, got to have a wash and shave now. Take daughter to work.
I'm in a minority, but would not leave my current area because of it.

That's precisely the situation that ethnic minorities found themselves in previously. If the answer for you is "yes", it's reasonable to assume that they would think the same -- which in turn explains why such communities build up together. People want to belong, and if they don't feel welcome in an area then they will move to somewhere they do feel welcome.

The question is then, if you feel unwelcome as someone in a minority, why? And why did immigrants feel unwelcome? Were they made to feel unwelcome by being treated with suspicion? Very possibly,in some places. Then we should try to work against this, and make it so that no-one should feel isolated in a community based purely on their racial background.

Lovely sentiments, it doesn't however work.
Perhaps not -- but we should still try.
We probably should yes, both (all) communities, however in reality it doesn't happen, and I found, it was easier to move away.
I think that's perfectly understandable. No-one should live in an area they don't feel comfortable living in -- I probably wouldn't move so easily but then I'm rather less neighbourly so would likely neither know nor care that I was in the minority.

Even so it's worth trying to tackle the root causes for people feeling unwelcome based on racial or ethnic background. It will take time but like every other group of immigrants in the past it will eventually, but probably not within most of our lifetimes, work.
Not only no go areas sp, but also gay free areas are advertised, do not know if the posters are still put up as I will not venture back for love or money.
em, in answer to your question at 10.59.
I live in a village where I was born and raised, it is approx 12 miles from Birmingham and approx 10 miles from Wolverhampton and approx 5 miles to the town whose council we come under. Now not only do I live in a village with hardly any immigrants the area of the village that I live in is a conservation area, and I feel that immigrants would destroy it. Hope this answers your question.
I will probably get shot down in flames here, but taking into account that the majority of votes count, lets hope Britain does not eventually land up with a prime minister like Robert Mugabe or (Gaddiffi - not sure of spelling).
Like them in what way?
I like Boo would (and did) for one very simple reason
House prices
Certain areas you can buy a beautiful 3/4 bedroom Victorian terrace hose for the same price of a one bedroom flat in other areas
jim360, Robert Mugabe is a dictator and despot, and I am sure you must be aware of what Gaddaffi was like.
Not sure I understand the link between integration ( or the lack of it), white flight, ghettoisation etc - how any of these have any kind of link with the UK voting in a Mugabe or a Gaddafi type as PM.

What is the link?
