Morning Fraser - Happy St Georges Day to you to - I am English by birth and a Yorkshireman by the grace of God. As someone pretty famous said:-

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our English dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage;
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;
Let pry through the portage of the head
Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a galled rock
O'erhang and jutty his confounded base,
Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean.
Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide,
Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit
To his full height. On, on, you noblest English.
Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof!
Fathers that, like so many Alexanders,
Have in these parts from morn till even fought
And sheathed their swords for lack of argument:
Dishonour not your mothers; now attest
That those whom you call'd fathers did beget you.
Be copy now to men of grosser blood,
And teach them how to war. And you, good yeoman,
Whose limbs were made in England, show us here
The mettle of your pasture; let us swear
That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;
For there is none of you so mean and base,
That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

I don't suppose I will be celebrating St George's day, he was a Greek officer in the Roman army, known for slaying a creature that didn't exist. Not really my thing!
Happy St George's Day

:0)
Happy St Georges Day to all. Im proud to be English
I will add that I am very proud to be English.
Let's all fly the flag! Let's celebrate with an English Chicken tikka masala, or a good old traditional pizza! Or what?
Venator, I would but far to many calories!!
I am somewhat ashamed to say that I didn't know it was St Georges Day today. I am English but I live in Wales, so perhaps I have an acceptable excuse !

What are the protocols for today ? Do we wear a rose perhaps ?
I think the protocols are mickey, if you do not celebrate it do not knock it. I do not celebrate St Davids or Andrews day but would never be detrimental to it.
Beautiful morning here for St Georges Day, the flags on the car and Trish got me a red rose for my hat.
And celebrate by using capital letters and correct English....sorry got my school mistress hat on this morning LOL Incidentally, my father was proud to be one of the last years of conscription. Thus, although I am proud to be British, I cannot claim to be English due to being born in a German Army Hospital. One of the great disappointments of my life.
Happy Birthday William Shakespeare......
....possibly.
Happy St George's Day. I'm a bit of a mongrel genetically but I and my mother were both born in England so that's good enough for me :) xx
G'mornin', and ditto to you too.
Happy St Georges day to you all, sent to you from the Republic of Walsall!.
Psst, Anngel - ellipses should have three dots, not four. Muah.

No, seriously, Happy St. George's day all. I hope to celebrate by actually working.
St George is the Patron saint of many countries and towns, Estonia and Barcelona to name two! So we can all celebrate.
