My 18 year old son has received a letter requiring him to attend jury service (England).

I had a thought about his proof of ID as he doesn't have a driving licence or passport. I can't find anything on the government website but only found some info on the Northern Ireland site and going by the NI site he doesn't have the right ID.

I will find out properly when he receives his confirmation pack, but was just wondering if any of you good people might know what is required in England.

thanks

Birth Certificate
.

I'm 61 1/2 - does this mean tha if I turn up on jury day without a chitty from my mother, they er wont let me do it ?
I got a letter calling me up, i replied and said i was slightly deaf and didn't think it was a good idea that I should sit on a jury. I am now exempt from jury service. I would just reply saying sorry, that He has no proof of I.D. as He is only young. I am sure they will drop him and move on to one of the other few million people who are on their list of names. Don't worry about it, I know the letter looks very threatening, but just reply and they will move on.
that doesn't work Annie. I couldn't find my driving licence and I don't have a passport and I still had to do it. I called the jury bailiff and they told me what to bring.

Just phone them, they'll tell you.
In the 70's my cat was called for jury service. Don't know how it happened but it gave us a good laugh.

thanks for the replies

Hopefully just his birth certificate will be sufficient.
