It really is such a shame that these days "success" only seems to be associated with making a lot of money.

is that all that matters?

of course not, rattar, but this is one of those arguments you can never win in general terms. Inteligence isn't necessarily about qualifications but it's how society often measures people
Nooooooo, success in life as a whole and financial success are not related at all- look at Mother Theresa, Ghandi etc- not exactly failures in anyone's book were they?
Success is often associated with hard work, sacrificing early pleasures, pastimes and perhaps family life....which leads promotion, increase in salary and a lifestyle that you have worked hard for.

You don't have to go down that road and no, it isn't "all that matters"
Ask our Olympic hopefuls what success is. I'm sure money won't be in their list.
Parents could save a lot of money by not having children. There is no doubt that kids cost you money but to a lot of people they are worth it. Having a large family could be success to some people but that is not a financial reward.

I do not want children through choice as I prefer pets to kids.

Does anyone here have a problem with this?
It's your life, you decide what matters to you.

In the end whatever you accomplish returns to dust anyway. I guess you just have to enjoy the journey.
