Downing street is a fine idea bobbs patrolled by the police and no pedestrians. Oxford street a bit silly.
Prudie , with respect we are talking bike riding in London, the accident rate for bikers has rocketed there more than anywhere.
I was talking to a friend o Zoom yesterday. A friend of her's flew to the UK from another country. She took a test before she left her country - negative. When she got here she isolated at her mother's house for 14 days. Took another test - positive. I don`t think most people have any idea where people are catching covid.
Tests are not 100% ^^
^ Yes, that pearl of wisdom had occurred to me.
Oh, I forgot to say bobbinwhales, I am having a go at Boris, and not for the fun of it. He's in charge of this countries pandemic, and he is putting himself at a unnecessary risk of accident, and anyone who can't see that , just don't want to.
Unless all the supermarkets are in agreement I can’t see much changing. Our local Sainsbury’s,Waitrose and M & S are pretty tough. They have signs at door saying just one person per trolley/basket and you MUST wear a mask. Then there is our local Lidl, which I can practically see from my house. Even though the security guy at door wears a mask half the customers don’t, they’re all going round in groups - gangs of teenagers all huddled together, and the staff don’t say a word. I know the staff aren’t obliged to, but it’s just mad - the store is packed anyway and no social distancing whatsoever.
I had an email from sainsbury's this morning telling me they are putting security guards on the doors making sure that people are wearing a mask and that they are shopping alone
It must be different areas then snow that are not wearing masks, because every supermarket I've been in over the last few months I've not seen anyone (not) wearing one.
What we are forgetting, and what this government want us to forget, is they have failed to get test track trace ( and support in place) you won't get people to stop at home if they can't pay their bills. Listening to 3 scientists this week they all say its exploded due to there being no TTT and support.
////Listening to 3 scientists this week they all say its exploded due to there being no TTT and support./////

True, very true, but is only of use, if efficient, at the beginning of an outbreak.
Much, much too late for TTT now.
T&T was never going to work because of the same people who we are seeing breaking / flexing the rules now.
i had the same e mail from sainburys about wearing a mask, i only shop online with them, as their local one to me is only an express outlet and not a large supermarket.
but do wear a mask if i need something from the local waitrose and sainburys
According to the ones in the know sqad, and no disrespect to you, they say it still should be done, but sadly its far from world beating. their words not mine, before someone shoots me down.
Who would they be, teacake?
ZM, If you know you will be chucked out of you're home onto the streets for not paying rent or whatever, or pay you're Gas/ elec bill, and can't pay for food. What choice are you going to make? Not everything the government have said they will pay has got to everyone, more than likely very few.?
//It is being strongly hinted that the 2 metre r//

What rule what that be then? The problem (mainly for the government) is that it isn’t a rule, people know that it isn’t a rule so they don’t comply (and it’s unenforceable anyway). We’re back to the Derbyshire problem; some people will not comply whatever is imposed but most people will do as they are required to do by law. If they’re not required to do it, they won’t. Changing something that isn’t a “rule” from 2m to 3m is simply absurd.

//…there were loads of people down by the Thames watching the fireworks i think, the police should have stopped that?//

No, emmie. They should not have had the fireworks. It’s no use on one hand telling everybody they are risking lives if they go out and on the other behaving as if everything is normal by putting on a firework display which is bound to attract people (otherwise why was it put on?)

// Compulsory vaccination…//

How, exactly, do you propose that is implemented?

// Should he drive to a park and cycle/jog there?//

So long as he doesn’t live in Derbyshire, he should be alright.

//I had an email from sainsbury's this morning telling me they are putting security guards on the doors making sure that people….are shopping alone//

Our branch tried that in the Spring. Mrs NJ and I simply took a trolley each. Split the list in half, met up from time to time in the store to discuss missing items, alternatives, etc. We spent far more time in the shop than if we’d shopped together, took up twice the space, had to use the checkout twice and each of us took longer to pack and pay than if we’d been together. A stupid idea which achieved little (people with three or four “children” – some of them young adults - were still allowed to shop together) and was quietly ditched. Now: “Let’s do it again. We know it achieved nothing last time but let’s give it another go. You never know, it might be different this time.”

The fact is, the virus will spread. The only way to prevent that is to keep everybody remote from everybody else and we can’t. Giving sensible advice will persuade most people to comply. Some won’t and threatening them with fines won’t change that.
ZM I've got into these sort of silly arguments with you before, not interested, if you believe what I am saying is false then move on. I watch all the interviews on TV when they interview the scientists. I believe what they say not what you hear from government.
Can you give an example or two teacake of where tt&t asyou callitis not working as it's too simplistic to say it's not working. We know people who've been contacted and isolated.we also know people who received a TT text but ignored and people who gave madeup names and phone numbers at venues
Teacake, I've no idea what your last post means. I was simply asking you who 'those in the know' are in reference to your 12.46 post.
