A curfew between 7 pm and 7 am with obvious exemptions
Heavier fines for those deliberately flouting what us now law
*is*
Mask on every day & everywhere.
No.
A Morrisons rule that I’ve just seen, is that they will refuse entry to their stores for anyone not wearing a mask, or proof of exemption. Thought wearing a mask was compulsory anyway. They ought to clamp down on people not gelling hands on entry to supermarkets/shops.
Malagabob, too many using the exemption excuse when being asked to wear a face covering
Shut more of these "non-essential shops"!
All medics would agree in private, that we are in a mess that is getting out of control.
The light atthe 3nd of the tunnel is, if anything getting dimmer and there are even signs that the tunnel itself is beginning to crumble.
The new variant is running amok and the vaccine programme has become arguably compromised to protect more people.
What more can be done?
Stricter policing, higher fines and a curfew as suggested by bobbie between the times that she mentioned.......difficult to police, but necessary.
Greater, much greater compliance by the public with support of Government recommendations and legislation.
Just follow instructions however bizarre.
The vaccine is not the answer, but vaccine plus improved public compliance, might, just might see the beginning of the end of this nightmare at the end of the summer.....at best.
At worst, a new variant ot controlled by present available vaccine.
The solution is firmly in the hands of the acceptance of scientific advice PLUS public compliance.....total public compliance.
problem is as soon as you say "exemptions" you've lost. While people look at the rules/expectations from the standpoint of intending to do everthing they are allowed to do instead of "Is it really necessary for me to do this?" then adding to the restrictions won't help.
I can't see any point in tougher restrictions while so many are not complying with the present rules. There are those who will not stick to the rules no matter what.
Why , if a person is genuinely exempt, are they putting themselves at an even greater risk anyway?
I can't see the point of a night time curfew. Who's out on the streets at night in the middle of January?
our supermarket waitrose doesn't have a hand gel machine for one thing, nor does it seem to have a firm ban on those not wearing a mask. Not sure what further restrictions one can make people safe if they don't want to abide by the laws that are already in place.
It is being strongly hinted that the 2 metre rule will be extended to 3 metres.

Isn’t that an admission that it has been wrong for 10 months?
There should be no exemptions to wearing a face covering in shops etc. You should wear a face mask, a face shield or stay at out of shops etc.. I have severe asthma, but when I wear a face shield I can breathe perfectly normally and have no problems. When I want my hair cut or my eyes tested, I wear a mask as required. It’s not nice, but can be done. Doctors, nurses etc. wear face shields and masks all day long, no ‘exemptions’ there. How would some people feel, who insist they can’t wear face coverings, if they went to their dentist for instance for treatment and found them unmasked?
We don’t need new rules. Just greater clarity in the present ones and more enforcement.
not so, and besides i see very few people sticking to the two metre rule anyway. They don't when going shopping or in the local coffee shop lining up. Those are the only ones i know about admittedly but changing it won't make a blind bit of difference
237sj loads of people are still out in the middle of the night.
that was for sunk -
Unlawful party's aren't taking place at 6pm 237SJ, neither are pub lock-ins , these are late night gatherings that are illegal
i don't know any pub that is open to be honest.
