Northern Lights - Renaissance
The first record I ever owned was ‘Johnny Remember Me’ by John Leyton.
I found it on a football field after it had be discarded and used as a frisbee.
I loved it. I was about 6.
The first proper purchase with my Paper-round money was ‘Parallel Lines by blondie.
Yes, thats the one, thanks so much Mamya , memories, eh? x
Class choice Tony!
OP The Springfield's 'Islands of Dreams'. My dad, b.1903 and a classical music afficionado and expert on Delius (I woke every Sunday to 'Song of the High Hills' or 'Brigg Fair' etc.) was so impressed that he bought his own copy. I am happy to say that my younger, songstress daughter sings a mean Dusty copy. :)
Chicago 1

Do you remember this....

then ELP Pictures at an Exhibition...

ELP was my first concert live - in the Preston Guildhall....in 1971

Love the kick flips!
That's kind Mozz x
DTC - you picked a hell of a fine first gig!

I am a massive ELP fan - was collaborating with Carl on his autobiography, but it all got put on hold. Must chase him up about that!
DTC - they were my favourite!
My first ever were Blaze of Glory- Jon Bon Jovi and Hysteria, Def leppard, when I was about 15. My first favourite was Don't Stop Me Now, by Queen, when I was 4.
Rock around the clock, by Bill Haley.
Oppps wrong thread.
I had a (secondhand) record player as my 8th birthday present which, of course, came with some records.

However the first record I can remember pressing my mother to buy for me was 'Apache'. The guy in the record shop seemed surprised that I didn't want the chart version by The Shadows, but the original Bert Weedon version instead. (It was because I'd seen him playing it on Blue Peter):

Don McLean - American pie
Earth , wind and Fire
Remember it well, it was this one ......
