who did you like singing the best ? for me it was Madness singing " Our House" on the roof of Buck House.
Would like to have seen Paul Potts or Subo included in the concert though, did we really need Grace Jones ?
Grace Jones was terrible as was Cliff Richard and Paul McCartney was utterly dire.I agree about SuBo and Paul Potts. There is a lot of talent that should have been there, instead of the same old stale faces. I thought Shirley Bassey was pretty damned good for her age though. Interesting to see that Princess Anne knew the lyrics to everything except the Beatles songs- maybe she was more of a Stones girl in her day :)
Robbie...obviously! I thought Kylie was good, Madness were fantastic as was Tom Jones. I though Paul McCartney was dreadful, Elton John wasn't much better and Cliff was dire.
Robbie and Tom Jones were great. I've never been the biggest fan of Paul McCartney personally but was a bit Beatles fan (after the event mind but still) and can't help thinking it would have been incredible to be there with it all lit up with him doing Live and Let Die and Let it Be. Always loved Elton John too. Madness were great and I liked the classical pieces and opera. They could have used so much more of the classical I think.
I think there were some strange choices rather than a straight out Best of British, I thought there may have been people like Russell Watson and Katharine Jenkins (much as she annoys me) there and it being more a celebration of Britishness and the Queen herself (maybe she is a big fan of all the acts, who knows!) than it was. Maybe it was seen as more of a thing for "the people" as we already have things like Royal Variety and proms.
I enjoyed the entire spectacle, well done the organisers,Gary Barlow and the army of workers who helped set it all up.However, i thought that Grace
Jones,Anni Lennox and Paul Mcartney were a let down.
Lighting displays on the Palace were fantastic, especially when Madness were singing.
