The child will not be a prince/princess or have the title of HRH unless the Queen varies the rules by letters patent.

Ifthe Queen does not vary the qualifications laid down by George V then he/she won't be. The rank of HRH is restricted to children of the sovereign, grandchildren through the male line and the eldest son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales. This can be varied by the monarch. While George VI was alive Prince Charles and Princess Anne would not have been entitled as such, but the King issued letters patent that any children of the then Princess Elizabeth should have royal status.

I can't fathom why Andrew's daughters are Princesses but Edward's children are not Prince and Princess, they are the Sovereign's grandchildren through the male line. Didn't the Queen modify the rules in the '90s?

We heard it on the lunchtime news and both immediately picked up on it - the news reader said casually "final engagement before the birth of her second son"
I bet he feels really silly as he has admitted on Twitter that he meant to say "child"
