My friend told me about this earlier so I checked my car and my partner's and they're both coming up as not insured.

However,

////  the data used by police at the roadside is unaffected. ////

.... so I don't know why people are getting in a twist over this.  Your car is either insured or it isn't and the system that the police use is apparenty unaffected.

I've just checked again and it looks like it might be sorted, as my car is now showing as insured  :)

I bet a lot of people have been reporting their neighbours for having no insurance - it's a hobby for some.

I must admit I do sometimes check up on the cars I see on shows like Car SOS, Wheeler Dealer and Bangers & Cash to see if any of the vehicles are on the road, although I don't use MIDB

Yes Barry I sometimes check cars that have been on car shows and it seems a lot are no longer on the road and I've always wondered why.

Some of those vintage cars only go to classic car shows so are kept garaged and the owners buy very short term insurance, often for one day, to go to the show.  Of course they are exempt from tax and MOT.
