Thanks to all of you who wished me well with my appeal.

Just to update - my appeal was turned down on the grounds that no parking whatsoever is allowed on double yellows, and my mitigation does not cut it.

Fair enough, I paid on receipt of the verdict, lesson learned.

Thanks again to everyone for your support.

Won't be needing the cake containing a file I ordered then.

Perhaps you could send an up to date copy of The Highway Code instead.

Thanks for the feedback, it is disappointing and I don't agree with it in those circumstances

Oooh, waspish. x

ah well, worth a go.

i once forgot to put my disabled badge in the car and got a council ticket.  I sent them a picture of it and said it must have fallen down when i closed the door and i got away with it!

I couldn't get a car park machine to accept my money and after a few failed attempts, videoed the final attempts.

They later asked me to pay a penalty charge so I appealed and sent a copy of my video.

They accepted the appeal but obviously hadn't spotted I had failed to enter my registration number which was the reason for the coins being rejected.

You are a rogue, Corby ;)

andy, you owed it to yourself to try, that is the main thing.

We recently accidentally (stupidly) displayed an out-of-date BB.

Hadn't been away from the car for long and returned to find a traffic warden issuing a ticket. We explained that the current badge was in its holder (and showed him it) but we had stupidly put the current badge behind the badge that had expired.

TW said he couldn't cancel a ticket once he'd started writing it.

We've appealed and are awaiting a decision but I'm not too hopeful of getting it cancelled as they're unlkely to cancel on the grounds of sheer stupidity. :0(

AH The whole parking sector are like a dog with a bone. You basically admitted the offence anyway so there is no way they'd let you off.

A mate of mine got a ticket for a car that is the same colour make and model but 1 character different on the plate. It was in a town 200 miles away that he'd never been to. Even then with overwhelming evidence it was a struggle to get them to cancel the ticket. My mate is illiterate so I did all the correspondence for him, I keep their final letter conceding as trophy!

I reckon you might get away with that one. An honest mistake especially as you have the new current BB. I watched a lazy TW on the otherside of the road log my car in a legit parking bay a couple of years back on a red route. I thought she was logging the car as required but was,in fact, writing out a ticket. She didn't bother to cross the road and put my counterfoil on the windscreen . If she had  done so she would of seen my BB clearly visible on the dashboard. I appealed when I got the fine through the letterbox which was the first I knew I had been given a FPN. I had been watching her through the restaurant window . I suggested she be given some strong words of advice.

Don't have the fish?

Thanks Retro, I'm keeping everything crossed. So mad at myself so being so careless.

I do wish we could correct our typos.....so mad at myself FOR being so careless.

Note to self: Must try harder.  :0)

Sorry to digress, Andy. I know it's not Chatterbank.

No problem windy.

Sorry to hear your appeal was not successful, Andy. It'd be nice to think they'd show a little compassion now and then. :0(

I think maybe waiting a couple of minutes would have saved the day - I was not blocking the road, no shops were open, and it's not a main thoroughfare.

Never mind. Sorted now.

I know we've no option other than to take it on the chin. Rattles a bit though. :0(

Well the law works both ways. For those who whine about their transgressions on this site for a minor traffic offences might consider the frustrations of Police Officers who are trying to prosecute serious offenders.

Retrocop - Indeed, and I accept my offence, and have paid for it.

But plenty of other people may feel that in circumstances like this, the police don't help themselves with their image in the eyes of the public.

Food for thought maybe.
