high powered car? Vauxhall Corsa high powered?

This doesn't actually give many details on how the accident happened but no I don't think a 12 month ban would help prevent anything similar happening at all. Punishments don't put people off carrying our crimes intentionally and I doubt the lad driving the car went out intending for anything to happen, regardless of how reckless he may or may not have been driving.

Look at the car itself Red.
Yes it does redhelen - bit further down the page

We don;t know how the driver was driving. On what side of the road the people were walking, driving conditions etc etc though
I'm not for a minute saying that the driver wasn't at fault but there could be contributory factors
Instant 12 month ban on what? How can you punish someone BEFORE they've done anything? I don't understand what it is you're advocating.
The 'look' of the car doesn't mean anything TWR, unless you can point out something from the picture that tells you it's high powered.

The kids around here spend a fortune putting accessories like spoilers on their 1.1 Fiestas.

I'm sorry it's just a corsa- it's nothing special or particularly racy, just a lightly modded little hatchback- everyone does that to their cars when they are young- I don't think it necessarily has any bearing on what was obviously an accident- I'd imagine it's more the lad's lack of experience rather than the car.
Are you advocating banning them the minute that they pass their tests!?!

Or do you mean that this accident should result in a 12 month ban?

Because it probably will, in any case.

P.S. Please feel free to ignore me....
kk, redhelen

The dent on the car is at the back? You cant tell anything from that
That is a Corsa VTR, pretty quick car.
The press report refers to the victim seeing a vehicle hurtling towards them. Given he was killed my the impact who on earth does the paper know what he saw?
I wouldn't be too hard on the OP, it was their reaction to what happened and I could probably be thinking the same, as most (not all!!) young kids drive too fast round here too!!!!

I see you got the Insight to what the figures state Pips, why is it that their insurance is so bloody high? is it because the drive to the law maybe?
Nothing will stop these incidents until the law is changed. Eg - killing someone whilst driving recklessly is judged as 'careless driving', 'driving without due care & attention' etc. Killing someone by car or other vehicle is as fatal as shooting them and should be classed as murder or manslaughter IMO.
