If these stupid, ignorant women were from America I bet they wouldn't have taken the P out a member of their armed forces and particularly in front of an armed US cop. As guests here they shopuld be ashamed of themselves.I'm glad he told them to leave. Firm and Fair comment

Their country should mark their passports as showing much disrespect to a host nation as a warning to them and other mickey takers then they would be given special treatment at all passport controls in future

I think many tourists don't realise that the guards are "real" soldiers, just people dressed up for the benefit of tourists. No excuse, it's still very rude to treat even Disneyland characters like that.

Total disrespect often recorded for social media likes.  Sickening

As BHG says I suspect many think they are just a tourist attraction like Donald duck.

Still, an excellent and measured response from the armed copper.  Guessing he is MoD rather than Met though, Met would probably have got them a cup of tea and buscuits then joined in.

'probably'

'Leave the facility'.  How very polite.  Not sure I could have been so restrained.  Good for him!

I must say, though, it does amuse me to see that there are armed police protecting the guards who guard the king, necessary, of course, because of the limited actions the guards are allowed to take. Perhaps this is what makes tourists think the guards are just for sightseers.

Maybe a sign, 'don't tease the bearskin' for example.

I think the guard in the pic was probably from the horseguards - no bearskin.

Of course there were probably no "royalty" in the building at all so the guarding is really a charade for the benefit of tourists.

If the military will connive in this they deserve a bit of ridicule.

Having watched quite a few Youtibe videos of the Horse Guards at Whitehall, i have come to the conclusion that our lads and lasses are nothing more than performing monkeys, there for the amusement of ignorant tourists.

Sure, most tourists are quite respectful but there are always those who believe it is part of their 'holiday package' to insult the guards.

Damn savages...etc

The facility is definitely Horse Guards arch between Horse Guards parade ground and Whitehall. I have ridden through it many time with the Royal Family and visiting foreign dignitaries. We had to ring the guard commander beforehand to tell them what time we would be driving through. That was not well received as the whole guard had to be turned out complete with bugler and probably disturbed their card games before doing stag. The soldier is a member of the Household Calvary. He wears a white plume and is a member of The Horse Guards. The sister regiment are the Blues and Royals. Neither wear bearskins. The Kings Troop Royal artillery wear busbys and sometimes relieve the Household Division when they go on annual camp. Both Regiments have an armoured recconaisance division and were deployed in the Falklands war because the soft boggy terrain could not accomodate heavier battle tanks but, with rubber tracks the lightweight armed scimitars could traversethe terrain. A Lt. Parker (heir to the Parker Pen company) commanded one such light scimitar when it went over an Argentinian mine. His men joked later that he popped out the cuppola like a champagne cork when it exploded but was remarkably unscathed. They also served with distinction in Afghanistan and are not an object of ridicule. They provide a very useful protection role in state visits etc particularly in carriage processions. They practice a very clever defence tactic. The Police Officer would have been Met.

They are dressed like that because it is their traditional ceremonial dress uniform and has been worn like that for hundreds of years. If they just wore camoflage fatigues and carried a Carbine instead of a Sabre it would not have the same attraction to draw in tourists and spend money in this country and that is why the changing of the guard ceremony is so popular with tourists.

Could be worse - have you seen the Greek presidential guards or the Pope's Swiss guards? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Here's one woman who definitely thinks the Horse Guard are there solely for her. She has popped up in many a Youtube video and has annoyed miitary and tourists alike. Not sure, but i do believe she was banned from the area.
