Morning peoples. My sister texted me at some Godforsaken hour this morning (5.38) - the sound of the text coming through in my half-sleep made me think it was the alarm. I was up, dressed and abluted before I realised....... Oh well, good job I'm flexitime.

Morning all. Pretty cold here and some plonker left the back door open all night. Good job we've got two mad dogs in the house to protect us.

How does flexitime work then, Sals?

You have to do so many hours a week, but it's up to you, within reason, how you split that time up over the weekdays. It's great. And I always make sure I have Friday afternoons off. I can come in early & leave early if it's a nice day, or if I fancy a lay-in I can just leave later.

So if you were to work 37.5 hours over Monday to Thursday, you could, in theory, have a Friday off?

The reason I ask is because I got a new job yesterday. :-)

In theory, yes, I could insist on it. But in practice there are a couple of docs who like my presence here every day - even if it's only about 4 hours on a Friday. So I sort of agreed to come in on a Friday morning. I know I'm very lucky.

Thanks, Sandy. It's a big weight off my shoulders, what with my facing unemployment at the end of this month. I can't rely on Interior Design as a main source of income right now, but would always consider it as a supplementary income. When the economy is in better shape, who knows.
