I copied this from a 'freinds' status on FB. How ignorant can some people be. The sad thing is....all his replies were in agreement. What a sad thick bunch....

Shame on you ENGLAND !!!!!! the only country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed without eating, elderly going without needed meds, and mentally ill without treatment - yet we donate £200 million to the people of Haiti ... im not saying we souldent help but shouldent we help the poor in this country first ?

They have got a point. I was reading how over a million children live in poverty in England. Where's the money to help them?
Words fail me....

i saw on last nights news,
That some people in the UK reach retirement age with less than £28,000. in savings,
How sad is that,?
Ummmm... I agree with what you said about the ignorance. But on the flip side, Tony's daughter would still be alive today if she'd been given Herceptin. It was deemed too expensive. Yes, I'm all for helping out people in developing countries. But to give aid to a country like Sudan who wanted to publicly flog an English school teacher for allowing one of her pupils to name a teddy bear Mohammed really gets in my crawl.
I read it and wept logic ...
The rate I'm going I shall be lucky to retire, owing less than £28,000..........

are you sure you don't live on our street SALLA.
There are people getting 28,000(sorry no pound sign) a week, that dont give to any charity apart from their own.
Who are we to say who is more worthy?
I know who I gave my money to,and they could do with more.
Discuss who I donated to and see if you guess correct...
Ah the old "chari 'iy begins at 'ome" mentality.
I don't think the fact the countries in an impoverished state has anything to do with it doc. The devastation is so huge and on such a scale that I doubt many countries would be able to recover without the financial aid from others, including us here in the UK.

I like to think that if (God forbid) anything happened here on that scale, that others would help us.

It's called being human and compassionate.

What a wonderful caring sharing specimen of humanity you are Doc...

Exactly BOO. Politics shouldn't come into it. We are talking about human beings that through no fault of their own are suffering like hopefully we will never have to suffer. It is not their fault that their government is corrupt.
Quite interesting to see the little kids in Haiti in really clean clothes still managing to get to school. In contrast to the grubby toe-rags in UK inner cities who are so impoverished they can't be bother going to school and sit around watching day time tv on the family widescreen before going out to nick a moutain bike and a couple of mobile phones on the way to the chippy.

Is it just me who finds it strange that people are still being found alive? Surely after 2 weeks with no water, they would have died. I hope it's genuine but part of me believes they are planted in order to keep the story in the news headlines.
Yes, there will be people making money out of this disaster, but you only have to watch the television to see that a lot of people that are benefiting by getting food and medical supplies. If we ease some suffering to these poor people surely that is enough.

We moan about this country - and I agree that there is poverty and unfairness (etc.), but compared to what is happening in Haiti we are so, so lucky.
