Yes I was reading the US statement on Twitter yesterday: I hadn't realised what the background was. Nice to see embassies have a sense of humour. The ruzzian embassy have their own recommendations on tea making but I'd disregard those ...

I may try it as a one-off - salt is added to food as a "flavour enhancer" - but not a good thing to introduce more salt into ones diet.

I read this earlier.  Sounds gruesome!

It made me laugh. It must be a wind up.

However, the US embassy hit back at the suggestion to add salt, saying in a post on X: "We cannot stand idly by as such an outrageous proposal threatens the very foundation of our Special Relationship.

"Tea is the elixir of camaraderie, a sacred bond that unites our nations.

"Therefore we want to ensure the good people of the UK that the unthinkable notion of adding salt to Britain's national drink is not official United States policy. And never will be.

😀

Said they ignoring their Tea Party.

Didn't the embassy state that they would continue the tradition of microwaving their tea? 🤔🙄😆

It was suggested to me years ago to put a pinch of salt in my coffee...it masks bitterness

...runs and hides...

At the Boston Tea Party tea was thrown into the sea - so the water would be naturally salty.

Perrlease

Next thing sprinkle a tea bag on   your fish and chips . Yummy

Damned Yankee liars. They've forgotten that Boston Party already.

Yeeeuck! 🤢  Prof Francl is also wrong about adding the milk last.  Imo, of course. 😉

Aren't they one of those odd countries that give you a cup of hot water and a dry tea bag if you ask for tea?

Damn savages.
