the only gal on the Sheffield team facing the all-female foursome from Newham College, Cambridge. If I was her, I'd have my name changed by deed-poll.....her surname being 'Haw'.

I once knew a Dick Pratt. Why oh why he chose to use "Dick" when his surname was "Pratt" I could never fathom. He finally changed his name by deed poll when his children were being teased at school. By then he himself was obviously quite old.

A colleague of mine's father came over from Holland as a pilot - he had to drop the Van der of Van de Hyatt when my colleague and his brother at school were being teased with 'VD'. Now he's a plain Hyatt - and the embarrassing thing for his wife was going to the States and finding themselves being upgraded to the top suite when they stayed in the hotels of the same name.
OH once had Gary Baldie in a class and I once had James Bond, in my class that is. The funny part was he looked just like the Milky Bar Kid.
My daughter went to school with Wayne Bruce......his nickname was Manbat!

I am obviously missing something but what is wrong with the surname Haw.
^^^ I'm not sure either about that. There was a lad in school in the 1970s (I didn't teach him) whose name was Peter Ennis. Not bad until you saw him on lists as P. Ennis. The kids nicknamed him Chopper.
