I wonder if your PM copied that notion from our idiot of a PM?
so they slaughtered the pigs because they couldn't send them for slaughter? right oh!
That's very sad, having to kill animals that should be able to be processed for the purpose they were bred.
Why couldn't that pigs be killed on site and put into deep freeze after they're butchered. Thete are plenty of skilled butchers around that can disect a pig. (I realise they need to be hung before they're butchered, but I'm sure there must be room for 600 swine across the country)

"Grown men in tears" - only because they're not lining their pockets. Nothing whatsoever to do with the slaughter.
mamy, did you read the link? They were culled instead of being slaughtered, sounds like the same thing to me.
mozz 20:05, bang on, there's your BA canary.
sounds like bowlocks to me, whole pigs can be stored and butchered as needed. It's exactly what they do now. More remoaner cobras.
Nothing to do with Brexit Tora. The article even says that the abattoir workers left because of Covid travel restrictions.
Yes, I read the link - abattoirs are short of butchers and workers to process the carcasses.
Agreed Mozz, not Brexit related at all.
mozz: "Nothing to do with Brexit Tora. The article even says that the abattoir workers left because of Covid travel restrictions. " - I know but the remoaners are blaming everything on it.
The only person to mention Brexit here was you. I'm sure the usual suspects will be joining us soon, but you can hardly whinge about people bringing Brexit into irrelevant conversations when you're doing the same yourself.
I voted remain and don't moan, simply comment on threads posted.
mozz: "The only person to mention Brexit here was you." - no it's in the question - read between the lines - it apes recent questions that have the "sunlit uplands of brexit" or similar in the title:

Over 10million pigs are slaughtered every year in the UK.

//The National Pig Association (NPA) said at least 600 swine had been killed - and fears that the bottleneck in the meat processing industry could see as many as 150,000 affected//

(could see as many as) that's 1.5% tops.

make no mistake mozz, the anti British remoaner, canary, is blaming this on brexit.
If one reads the lines instead of imagining what's not there one will not go too far wrong.

End of.
you're having a turkish doug, end of.
Don't you have important plans to formulate, you well-balanced individual?
Apparently pigs have to be killed in a slaughterhouse to be classed as fit for human consumption, they can't go off to the slaughterhouse to be killed for the same reason they aren't there now - no space because of a backlog due to not enough workers.
