JimF I like JH on Mastermind ,
Loved Countdown, Baz, when Richard was hosting. Cannot stand this Nick chap. So far up his own whatsit, imho.
Don't mention Jim Bowen on Bulls Eye
Have been on a couple of quiz shows over the years and one of the producers explained some things to us. For example if the show is one person against another and it runs for 13 weeks then they need 26 people. 13 Male 13 Female. If not then they get complaints. Some must be young and some must be older. If not they get complaints. Some must be from the north, the south, Wales, Scotland, Ireland etc. If not they get complaints. Must be a nightmare trying to sort out who goes on. I must have been lucky that they wanted a middle aged female from the north of England when I was picked. I know there are a lot more shows on now and a lot of them are on daily so you have a better chance of being chosen but its not always down to brains.

I like him as well , loved his facial expressions
there's a lot of urban mythery surround quiz show auditions but the reality is I've seen ugly to stunning and thick to bright, I think it's more about how many of the spectrum they have when they do the audition. eg on the Chase the chaser often know the contestant as a fellow quiver, now if they were worried about it they'd never let them on would they?
On countdown today - fella missed the opportunity to record the highest score ever ; by risking a eight letter word

" Isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the box" Who are we to say that. There are some people that always think they are better than others.
I liked JB too, he always came across as a really nice man.
My brother and I were the first to win £20K on Pointless in 2013. If you are really bored, heres the link.

sddsddean, I never doubted it for one minute
Well done sdds.
When Pointless first started, the final round was not a choice of 5 subjects, it was just whatever they threw at you. So the £1,000 used to carry over a lot often to £15,000 +. About 5 years ago they changed the rules to make it easier and now the money is usually About £3,000-£4,000.

A mate of mine was on the Chase a couple of years ago, definitely brains not beauty. His share of the winnings was £4,500, which he was chuffed with.
