Since I was in town this morning I would have liked a pub lunch in a newly-refurbished pub. But thought it funny going in on my own.

Do any of you ladies go to lunch on your own.

I'm not a lady, but I wouldn't mind sitting alone at lunch. It can be a sociable time but it can also just be a time to relax and sit by your ones to enjoy a meal.

However, I can imagine a lady may feel differently about going into a "pub" on her own.
If by myself I'd go into a cafe for lunch but not a pub.
Yes, I have often had lunch on my own - in pubs and cafes. So long as I have a newspaper, magazine or book with me, I'm quite happy.
I regularly go to a cafe and coffee shop on my own but wouldn't go to a pub by myself
No I agree with Elliemay. I go to coffee shops and cafe but not pubs. Mind you I have waited for friends to turn up and nursed a drink.
yes if I want to.
The last time i was in the uk i ate a roast dinner for lunch with a mate and noticed at least 3 or more ladies eating alone. So are you saying this isnt the norm?
I have lunched alone. I think a woman going into a pub alone used to be frowned upon, but not now that pubs have changed from places that sell alcohol to restaurants, which most have.
Yes, I have. I always take a newspaper with me, even if I go for a coffee. It somehow helps when you are sitting there on your own. I wouldn't go to a pub in the evenings on my own though.
Often eat in cafe's alone at lunch time as long as I have a mag. to read, quite enjoy it. Not in pubs though.
Correct Naomi. At one time the only women who went into pubs on their own were ladies of the night.
I never have yet, but I certainly would if I wanted to.
I do, Take my kindle or a magazine for while I am waiting... Usually use the chains of places I know never had a problem.
Yes, not often, but I'm not worried about going into a food-serving pub. I always have a book or something to occupy me. First time I did it was 50 years ago and that felt very odd and I got a few glances, but nothing untoward.
I have never been into a pub on my own, I will go into cafe though.
I wouldn't go into any pub in company that I wouldn't go in alone. I wouldn't be worried about going into a pub alone in the evening, I would be worried about getting home afterwards.
Sure have and will do so again, I am sure. I have never had any bother whilst on my own.
Times have changed, JJ....years ago going into a pub alone would mean being faced with lots of men peering at you through smoke.
Now pubs are different.....most offer food in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere and you won't be uncomfortable at all......just chat to the barman, give him a smile and you'll be fine.... :-)
I have even been in a few hard core real ale pubs just for a pint. You get the odd comment nothing a bit of banter can't sort out. If you are drinking a high abv IPA you tend to get a bit of respect. Good beer and a crusty cob and leaving their nuts on the floor...... Got to be a well spent lunch time
That's all very well, Rowan but some of us no longer have the teeth for a crusty cob.... :-(
Do they do soup?
