After all the hype and endless trailers, this has turned out to be a huge disappointment. In spite of all the money that has been thrown at it, all we have are thoroughly unlikeable characters it is impossible to care about, long stretches when absolutely nothing happens, and James Norton's portrayal of the son is boring and bland. The next James Bond? You must be joking! I'll stick to Spiral, thanks

i am quite enjoying it, having recorded last nights episode i will watch that later today i suspect.
james norton is a fine actor but this programme is dire ... i find the title confusing as well, i thought it was going to be about scottish gangsters!

the title refers to the fact that the Mafia is like a franchise, split into many areas of today's societies.
Watched the first two episodes, but became very confused and bored. Thought about watching it again from the beginning, but hey, life's too short.
I didn't see any of the hype but I'm enjoying it so far.
I'm absolutely loving it.
I fell asleep during first episode and have not returned, I too thought it would be about Scottish gang wars etc.. much too bland
I'm enjoying it. I suspect it will gather pace as the series goes on.
I didn't understand the title so thanks for that.
I watched the first episode (at the second attempt having fallen aslepp through it the previous evening!) and to my surprise thought it was excellent. Helped by the realistic effect of having some very fine Russian actors with actual language dialogue, the knowledge that the author of the origina McMafia has rated the programme very close to reality, and the fact that the plot (so far) is not as convoluted as I had feared (that may change)

Hint: when you have a drama about mafias, beware of running into "unlikeable characters" :-). I am not sure the point in this case is to elicit sympathy. More a "Wow! They do that and we let them?!" reaction.
The Russian embassy has already complained that it is an assault on truth, hilariously enough, as there are actually very few Russians in British prisons. But none of the gangsters featured here ARE in prison. That is the problem.
Of course the title is explained by the appalling Israeli mafioso at the end of part one: I missed the significance of that at the time.
