Probably late Sixties to early Seventies, I vaguely recall a comedy vaudeville type comedy band similar to the Nitwits, with a routine fronted with a double -bass player who would interrupt the song, stop playing, and turn his instrument around-opening a sort of trap door either on the edge, or the back of the bass -he would bring out a bowl of soup and take a few spoons before returning the bowl to its compartment and commence where the song left off.
Can any older ABrs remember the name of the comedy band please?
I did think it was either The Nitwits or maybe Spike Jones....
Thanking you in anticipation.

Afraid not Bonzo Dog..... Or Grumbleweeds. I really did think it was the Nitwits, but they seemed to have Tuba player rather than a stringed Double Bass.
The Bonzo Dog Doodah band had me up on stage once. Not their style at all.

Calibax, no, not a trio. But these guys were very good musicians, so thanks for the clip. Worth watching!
Think this was asked on here a few years ago but can't remember the answer. If I'm on the right track, then it was a trio wearing tux and bowler hats. Period was early to mid 60's. I'll do some more brain searching when fully awake>
Was it the Temperance 7 or something like that?

They were good too Barsel, & I can see a few elements taken from the Nitwits, but still not THE band......May well turn out to be The Nitwits after all!
