Must stop watching late night football. Can't think why Brazilians play so late. Anyway, I'm being deafened by blackbirds.Must be youngsters, courting at this hour. And I came back down to discover six small dogs still in the house; I'd gone up and forgotten that I hadn't taken them across to the kennels. Creatures of habit, they didn't look best pleased at having sofas to sleep on; they prefer the kennel, as that's usual. But no corpses in the garden yet; the three wolfhounds are always outside and fill in the hours before 6 am by killing a muntjac or two. Either the prey isn't awake yet or it's learning not to come within range. The joys of rural life!

May complete on the sale of a field today. Drinks all round if I do!

Brazil, minty. It was 3-0. Spain were totally outplayed for the whole match, missed a penalty and had a man sent off in the last 20 minutes.

Morning all! I've been doing all the stuff I was going to spread out over the day as I'm off shortly to help out on board Goliath, the tug we are using on the Stroudwater Navigation. That's the canal we are restoring. We are taking depth soundings to see how much dredging we will have to do. It hasn't been used for 80 years, so it will be quite a lot.

Not really, al we are doing is measuring the depth, so that we can work out how much we need to dig out. We have markers along the tow path, we stop opposite each one in turn and take a depth sounding with two long poles. One to rest on the bottom and the other one pushed in as far as it will go, to the real bottom, then measure one against t'other and that will tell us how much we need to clear. Simples! tch :o}

I'm in Germany Murray:) Yes we got to the festival disasterously as the Nightliner broke down so instead of sending another one they sent vans and minibuses, so we had nowhere to sleep when we got there. I felt so ill that I cadged a lift back to Koln on Friday, so not a great weekend Alba, in fact it totally sucked. lol
