either you find a solicitor (expensive) or you do it yourself. a lot will depend on what's involved in your individual situation. are there property issues? child issues? etc...

if you think you can agree on everything, I'd say do it yourself. I did mine and it cost about 300. use this link http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/infoabout/d ivorce/index.htm and get the information pack with the forms you'll need.

if you need a solicitor.. the sky's the limit! as a starting point I'd say at least 1000.
Some solicitors will give you an initial interview of 15 - 20 minutes free. They will warn you of the costs involved. Phone around and try and get such an interview.
Some solicitors do give you Free Consultation and all will give you a clear idea of the costs and the time estimate involved. You can post your request for free on http://www.thelawpages.com/legal-help and law firms will contact you and you can choose one or none of them - at least you'll get an idea of their potential fees.
I got divorced in 2002

It was amicable and no children involved and I paid a solicitor 300
