Disabling airbag on Golf

Can I disable the passenger side airbag on my M-reg Golf Cabriolet? The manual says it can be done, but then refers you to a dealer....On newer cars I've seen a switch doen the side of the dash.....

Typically with VW group cars you will be able to do this yourself, if you're prepared to get the VAG-COM cable and software for your PC. Cables can be found on ebay, or a reliable branded version can be found at http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/index.html


Your first step should be finding the location of the VAG-COM socket in your car to check you will be able to access it.
