Integrity, Professionalism And Accountability At Every Level ?

Rishi Sunak claimed in his inaugural speech as Prime Minister that his government "will have integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level".

Within hours of claiming this, he reappointed the disgraced Suella Braverman as Home Secretary, within a week of her being forced to resign after deliberately leaking government documents by copying them to her personal email account, and sending them on to people who had no business seeing them.

When challenged on this reappointment at Prime Minister's Questions, Rishi Sunak said that Braverman "made an error of judgement but she recognised that" and that he was "delighted to welcome her back".

In any other walk of life it would be a sacking offence to leak confidential documents by copying them to your own personal email to distribute them to people who shouldn't have access to them.

But Suella Braverman does this at the absolute heart of government, faces no real punishment at all, then gets welcomed back into government within a week!

In what way is this not the exact opposite of "integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level"?

was she disgraced? didn't she resign as a matter of principle against Liz Truss form of government.
that is what i watched on the news at the time.
a tory MP (who was once chair of the party) has alleged that she did it more than once…

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/sunak-braverman-case-home-secretary-b2211273.html

it is being reported that she was being investigated over it by MI5 as early as january…. the only paper reporting this bit however seems to be the daily mail so we should perhaps wait for a more reliable source to investigate it first!

it does look like it was not a one off and does warrant investigation.
reported in the mail, ummm
I agree Canary. In the commercial world she would be 'personna non grata' everywhere.
It didn't bother you when Hillary Clinton did it thousands of times.
Why can't you faux lefties take an even-handed, unbiased view of anything? Everything has to be seen through the prism of your, rather juvenile, political leanings.
Normal people try to approach every story from a fair, unbiased perspective.
Define normal Spicey.
Please do so,,
That could exclude thee and me ozz.
Could exclude many others too.
it was also wrong when Hilary clinton was doing it yes...
yeah I heard it was more than once a day!
no that was Boris haw haw haw I instantly quipped!

and she wdnt let go ( boris)

and it was OK it was only a little law she broke ( boris again)

oh we will change the law and make it OK ( not that DIDN't occur)

anyway The Bravv has an adviser NOT a mandarin or pen pusher or time server or crypto marxist
and I reckon - - - she was told by the mandarins - oh no not him (perhaps they said 'heem just to vex her) - no security clearance

but instead it should be Sir Anthony Ponsonby Goodbody Smythe - REALLY a VERY safe pair of hands....( and he has security clearance!). and heeeere he is!

and SHE said that she would be bloody well have the adviser she wished ( and not some white honky)(*) - and arranged for him to have the stuff by er gmail. oo-er Bravvers !

as someone said - well Hillary did it 100 000 times and got off ( and one security clerk did it once and got 4 years) .

AAAANNNNDDDD- she mis-sent it oopse Suzie!
and HE ( the wrong fella , NOT the private adviser) is the one that dobbed her in.... (+)

(*) On Friday I was addressed as an opener " there is no need to be a white prock, you can ask if you can sit down" B'ham New Street. I can fairly say the staff didnt give a frack.

(+)Like the sneak thief who returned the Falklands Island Invasion plans he had filched in a taxi to the police with a catchy sarcastic message 1982. I think I wold probably do the same if something like that popped up on my screen
Since when did a mistake equate to 'disgrace'?
When it's government business. But maybe not, eh, Naomi?
Sacked Jake Berry - not that he's bitter - needs to put his money where his mouth is.

In fairness, Braverman was not sacked: she resigned after owning up.
I think most people can see that it was really a "toys out of pram" moment after an argument over funding.
Reappointing her so soon though is definitely an oddity.
