Having just been on holiday in america i would just like to know why the americans haven't discovered duvets. I just didn't seem to see them in hotels or for sale in shops just curious that's all.

I'm sure they know what they are, but in most parts of America, its too hot for a duvet, so there's no point

jonjo,

Its just not an American thing really(they are quite conservative when it comes to change).

We didn't have duvets here until about 20/25 years ago, just mountains of blankets topped off with an eiderdown.

They were snuggly, but boy were they heavy!

To be fair, you don't get them in British hotels either, presumably for hygiene reasons.

i was lucky enough to stay in a 5* hotel in chicago on a cold february weekend (courtesy of work!) and they had the most wonderful thick duvets - but light.. memories :o)

take care
