I have had a spring clean and a spending splurge and as a result I have some Duvets and pillows ,feather and polyester that are surplus to requirements.
They are old but in reasonably good condition, I’m sure I heard somewhere that animal rescue shelters could use them,is this right or is there any where else that would utilise them?? Thanks.

You could also try homeless hostels.
Call your local dog shelter, they vary on what they can take, but I expect most will be very grateful!! I did this at the end of last year and they were very thankful for the donation. I rang ahead so they knew to expect me also :-)
Both excellent ideas, but you can also turn pillows into cushions. Especially useful outdoors, if you use plastic tablecloths as a covering. Waterproof.

I have used old duvets as extra heating on the bed by placing them under the bottom, bottom sheet.

And I cut a duvet in half, rolled it up in spare material, (check out curtain shops - they often have excellent cheap material in baskets outside), and used it as a draught excluder. If you get a nice bit of string or ribbon, you don’t even need to do any sewing. Roll tightly into a sausage shape, and wind ribbon round it about six inches from each end and tie tightly.
