Have you got a spare battery for your smoke detector?

They always fail at night.

There's an exception to every rule
Mine are hot-wired.

They are used in this house instead of a dinner-gong.
Question Author
Even the hot wired ones have battery back up usually
"They always fail at night."

True. I've experienced this more than once and had to "disable" the detector/speaker with a hammer.
The lid fell off one a couple of years back, couldn't see a battery but that's not to say it/they don't have one.
Previous battery operated ones always bleeped low battery warning at 3am. Very considerate of them.
i think mine are wired now...

lol at dinner gong alba... mine drives me mad sometimes, you cant even open the bathroom door after a shower without it going off.... though i suppose thats a good thing they are so sensitive
My husband is a good smoke detector, he always knows if I've had a sneaky cigarette. I'll keep the 'fail at night' business to myself.
We have had ours for many years, never put a battery in it, Ok, ive never actually taken them out of their original packaging either, im not even sure where they are!!

I should make the effort after recent events :(
Husbands failing at night is not a good sign.

I worked in a B&B once when the smoke detector was frequently set off by a faulty hot shower spurting all over the place.
No. But as we don't have a smoke detector I guess its not a problem.

Oh Snags, that's another thought for the day!

Shopping List.

1. Smoke detector
2. Chocolate
You have the order round the wrong way. And forgot crisps.
What flavour of crisps?
Question Author
I used to have a pad of printed shopping lists.

Item 1, chocolate was pre-printed for you.
i don;t have a smoke detector

i do have chocolate and crisps
Now I feel like I'm missing out on the joys of owning a smoke detector.

I shall add it to my list.
i don't have one, they are a pain in the derriere
I don't have a massive flat screen tv mounted on the wall, a coffee grinder or a bread maker either. Damn you Hopkirk for making me realise what I'm missing out on.
I had some nice Jubilee crisps yesterday, in red white and blue. Made from different coloured potatoes - Salad Blue, I forget the others. Tasted rather nice, and of course you feel really patriotic.
