Where Are The Handbags?

I am always curious when I see female politicians and they never have a handbag with them, I could never go out without all my bits and pieces. Even the basics of tissues and a hairbrush is needed !

That's where the expression bagman/woman comes from. The sultan of Brunei always used to have a flunky behind him with envelopes containing £50 notes (When in UK). He handed out the gratuities and was known as the bagman .

When I was at school ( a long time ago) I know that schoolgirls always had a hanky pocket in their knickers. I say bring back knickers with pockets.

I don't usually carry a handbag - I use a rucksack :-)

My door keys and my phone are tucked into my bra and, if I am just carrying my debit card, it goes in there too.

I need my handbag, but I do hate carrying them. The bigger the bag, the more I have in it. My bag is quite big at the moment and very very heavy. God knows what's in there. Must turn it all out later just to see why so heavy. I'm a bit like Mary Poppins I suppose, have everything in there, except the kitchen sink!....

I found three empty urine sample bottles and a hypothermia blanket in one of the pockets in my bag. I might have a look through the other pockets some day.

Oh I always have glasses , tissues, purse, hairbrush, pen & bit paper , inhaler, keys, sweeties, nail file, fan, small perfume and phone.

One thing I always carry apart from a lot of what you said is a bottle of water and if there's a lot of change in my purse, that makes it heavy for a start!

I regret that the continental fashion for man bags never caught on.

When I go to gigs, I carry a large canvas satchel with all my bits and pieces in - including a paperback, there's a lot of hanging around in my job!

But day to day, I would love a bag to carry my hankie, change, pens, notebook, phone, car keys, work phone - and anything else I need on the day, instead of cramming them into various pockets.

I agree with bodeker, but must add dental floss, and a couple of supermarket bags for life.
