My daughter's homework was to draw the moon for 30 days; now she had not problem with this and, bless her, has been looking every night. However we have not really seen the moon since she started this about a week ago. Is there a site which gives us past or future moons?

For tracking the Moon's progress throughout the month, it can be helpful to know what time to expect the Moon will rise, is due south and when it sets.
Throughout the past week the Moon has been staying rather close to the southern horizon and since it is waning it has been rising later and later each night (after midnight since third quarter).
The Moon will not been seen in the evening sky again until its thin waxing crescent becomes visible for several minutes just after sunset (in the west) 15 Feb 2010. Mark you calendar for its reappearance then. It will also climb higher in the night sky over the next couple of weeks which should improving spotting conditions considerably.
The link below (set for the London area) provides useful information for spotting the Moon from there:

...and I used the lovely moon pic as a screensaver.
A program that you might be interesting in downloading is Stellarium http://www.stellarium.org/ which is an excellent standalone program for examining the night sky where you live.
