Very accurate & easy to use. Not well known here but I am passing it around.
Emergency services in the UK have certainly recognized the value.
For those that have no idea what Ratter is talking about.
Me included.

Now I know, thanks Ratter15
I do quite a lot of solitary hiking, and on occasions I am quite remote from nearest town / village etc, and have thought what may happen if I became incapacitated, and wasn’t sure of My exact position. I now have what3words on my phone which gives me a means of letting emergency services of my location down to a few metres.

It is certainly growing in popularity, I have quite a few visitors to my house to collect and deliver things, my "What 3 Words" bring them right outside my door, excellent app, you get the opportunity to send a photo of your location as well, not that you really need it but I send a pic of the front of my house so they instantly recognise it.!! brings you with 3 meters of your location. I am very impressed.

and it is free!!
I often cycle 60-70 miles on some of my rides so it’s essential IMHO for cycling in North Wales and I’ve had it on my phone some 18 months.

I’d recommend it to everyone.
I quite often drive on my own, not so much now, of course. I don't always know exactly where I am on a road so I have the app in case I need assistance. I did see a helicopter ER programme where a lad fell off his bike in some woods, one of his mates had the app and they were found in no time.

I dont think it will be long before it is on every addressed envelope, especially those living out in the sticks!! I know it could of saved me many hours over the years not being able to find addresses.
I've got it but hope to never use it
Got it. Never needed to use it. Never expect to really. Besides no data on mobile so I'd need to get lost near WiFi.

OG, it works without internet!! :-)
Oh good. Most apps requiring data doesn't.
How can it work without internet?

Hopkirk, the same way a sat nav does I suppose, satellite.
// For those that have no idea what Ratter is talking about.//
foo it gladdens my heart when I see on a perfectl straighforward post and someone asks:

wossee on abart den? - -
"where are you" is answered by just three words and when the three words are entered on the data base the emergency services know exactly where you are

installed it yesterday - odd innit and up it comes today on AB

and noted it for my front room just in case someone in control asks "where dat den?"

are there really 13 posts offering broken and half- arrissed excuses not to download or ever use?

I thought its main use wd be attending first aid on the street

( so you dont say - yeah foo outside the music shop day closed 10y ago and den burned out in the riots.....")
is "where dat den" your three words, PP?
Seems a bit weird to me - so if I order some goods on the telephone, instead of saying "I live at 1 High Street, Anytown", I say "I live at curry.beach.football". Must be a nightmare for delivery route optimisation ;-D
canary, the three words (which you don't get to choose ha!) map to a GPS location and a map reference. Three words in your own language are much easier for most people to remember than a string of numbers. The hook with current postcodes is that not everywhere has one....eg on a moor in the middle of the New Forest. its a clever concept...I have a small investment in it via crowdfunding.
I have the app. I amused myself for a couple of days looking places up on it, but not had any use for it (thankfully).
