Yes, I know it was a joke but, as a pedantic nerd, I'll point out that China do play cricket at international level - just very, very badly though ;-)

Chris, even more pedantic, I played in the first match between the Royal HK club and Shanghai. We scratched a team up in Shanghai inc Mr Roope as our ringer to hold our end up against what would be a very good Indian sub-con county team, the match played in a Shanghai football stadium and the Royal HK CC brought up the coconut matting....the trophy was a plaque saying 'Shanghai Cricket Club' that hung in Hong Kong after some loon of an English expat went down to the Shanghai club in the 1959 exodus to recover it, rather than fill his cases with the usual family photos etc... Fyi the club was created in 1858.....
first match in the modern era I should add.
Theland, I was the regional director for a major oil co and we went from 8 staff in early 1993 to over 175 by 1995, such the expansion, I had responsibility for lubs, bitumen, chemicals and coal (yes we imported it into China) and joint venture creation and my patch was Central China all the way across to Tibet - I also had the pompous title of Chairman's Representative to add to the Regional Director bit. The job also included stewarding the Exploration team for the East China Sea and onshore possibilities in Jiangsu and the gas fields in Guangxi.
