I stupidly bought a new lamp shade from a department store's clearance shelf.
What I didn't realize at the time was, the ring which holds the thing on the standard's on off switch is too large.
Rather than lug the shade back to the shop, I'd sooner try to fix it somehow.

Any ideas please

I Googled "Lamp shade Adapter" and it came up with this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/232506584423 Lots more options.

Thanks bhg, I've just ordered one from lamp spares for the princely sum of 49p.
Chip go BnQ. They sell them.

This is faultily the case with lampshades... the ones from next come with adaptors.
usually not faulty - i think that needs to be said.
What BHG shared is exactly what is needed.

Thanks Spath, As I say its winging its way to me. cheers, Chip.
When i bought new lampshades from a well known Swedish flat pack furniture brand they were way too big for the UK ceiling light hanging plastic bit.. I was at first very confused so I ended up snapping the ring off of my old lampshade, and bodging it using that for the time being as it was the right size.. until i realised of such an adaptor.
