Just a bottom sheet and the duvet on top.
Just the duvet, surely it doesn't work properly if it can't settle around the person underneath it.
We always have a fitted sheet under us, a flat sheet tucked in, and the duvet on top.

It saves washing the duvet cover very often, and avoids the cold draught if the duvet slides a bit.

I also like the tucked in feel of a properly made bed.
Fitted sheet on mattress and two 3.5tog duvets on top in winter and just one in summer. They are thin enough to wash weekly so the bottom one gets washed and the top one moves to the bottom and a clean one put one top. No sheets on top at all. Can't stand my feet being fastened in and I just kick the bottom off the duvet as soon as I get in. My feet are outside at all times.
I gave up on duvet covers a couple of years ago after trying and failing to wrestle one on to the duvet.
We now have a a flat sheet over us with the duvet over that. Currently even the 1.5 tog duvet is too warm so that gets thrown off and we sleep under just the sheet. I don't tuck anything in.
I wash the duvets before they're put away as the seasons change.
Funny you should mention this, 'cos me and the missus always had a sheet between us and the duvet ..... until last week.
My missus (for reasons unknown) decided she was doing away with the sheet; but I was dead against it (probably due to not liking change etc).
Anyway, I'll have to admit, I've got used to it and now prefer it without the sheet - just a fitted sheet beneath us and a duvet on top of us :)
No sheet...just the sheep wool Devon Duvet...the most wonderful duvet I've ever had.....gently snuggles around me.....and regulates temperature which is bliss...x
Fitted sheet and then just the duvet, however I just slept somewhere where there was a weighted blanket thing and OMG getting one of those, but never slept with a duvet and top sheet.
Dumped the duvet a long time ago.
Yes, its much more hygienic than just the duvet which can get grubby and stained, simpler to wash a sheet than a duvet .
our duvets always had covers, anne, no need to wash the whole thing.

Didn't like them, though, too hot, always having to stick a leg out to bring down my body temperature.
Jno, leg out or leg over ? :-)
Hang on, hang on. Are you people just having a duvet without a cover?

I have a fitted under sheet and a duvet cover on my duvet which I change, weekly.

I certainly have never used a duvet without a cover.
any attempt at legs over in my house always brings a sudden chill, it's true
Yes chrissa, no duvet covers which is why we have a top sheet between us and the duvet.
We have 13.5 tog, 7.5 tog, 4.5 tog and 1.5 tog duvets for the various temperature changes. All are bright white soft feel ones which look like a bit like white bedspreads.
All bedding is white too, hate coloured bedding.
Interesting how we all do it differently isn't it?
fitted bottom sheet and duvet..with cover..hate flat sheets get strangled as I am a restless fidgety sleeper... same with nighties..has to be jammies !
Mattress cover, fitted cotton sheet. Duvet with duvet cover.
Fitted sheets and duvet.
Flat sheet and duvet with cover. Fitted sheets keep popping off.
Fitted sheet and duvet in duvet cover. 9.5 tog duvet all year round except when it's really really hot - then we ditch the duvet and just sleep under a cotton sheet.
