I always pride myself on my spelling but.............. went totally blank tonight trying to spell Fahrenheit. Had about 3 attempts and in the end looked it up in a dictionary, Anyone else have "blank" moments.

Freqwently, Maggie
Guard and Gauge always confuse me.
often, i call them senior moments. Can't spell or often say indubitably.
How bizarre, I was going to say the exact same two words as Jackdaw.
If you are typing on a PC and a red wiggly line appears under a word, then by right-clicking on the word it will give you the correct spelling.
Get them all the time maggie, know as C.R.A.F.T moments, "can't remember a ? thing"
I've just answered a question on decorators and had to think a while before i typed metres and not meters. Occasional brain freezes are not uncommon, particularly when it comes to writing words you seldom use.
yeah one time I was stopped by the police and he said what is your name and I replied

i cant remember what my name is ....
but at least your spelling is a thing of rare beauty, Peter
I blame spellchecker...
Diarrhea always
Confuses me.
Dash In A Rush Round House Oh Eh......... AGGGGH!!

Diarrhoea
Dehli and Delhi.
a lot of people trip up over Gandhi and Ghandi as well.
Diarrhea is an acceptable alternative. This reminds me of the note I once received from a parent of a pupil which read, "Please excuse X for being off school but he has had (three attempts to spell diarrhoea, all wrong and all crossed out) the squits for the past three days."
The problem with the spellchecker on my laptop is that it underlines words such as 'debut' or any place names the Americans have never heard of. For example, Bolton and Bury are ok, but Burnley and Accrington get the red underline.
Again, the solution is to right-click on the word then click Add to Dictionary. Problem solved.
Ken do you have yours set to American English?
Jackdaw, I've had that note from a parent as well. :-)

It must be a nationwide thing.
Why not use your spellchecker ?
