A friend borrowed my car for a few days, and managed to have an accident.

It's just the corner of the front bumper thing, but I've spoken to Toyota Insurance, and apparently they'll have to replace the whole bumper assembly housing unit thing, with the lights, and parking sensors, etc.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Are they still your friend?
I'd be gutted. Is your friend paying the excess?
so..... did you take out extra insurance cover for your friend, or is it a case of bang goes your no claims bonus?
Maybe tonyav's around or one of those useful in motoring could advise, such a pain
ouch Jayne......

are they covering their share of this....these things happen but as long as she is being reasonable, esp re if you have a no claims protection.
So sorry to hear that, JJ. I am glad to hear that noone was hurt and if there is anything we can do then all you have to do is ask.
was it their fault, or the dreaded Third Party?
Were they moonlighting delivering pizzas in it?

DT ... typical bloke to assume it was a "she" !!

I hadn't really thought about the no claims.

I suppose err "she" will pay the excess.

I wonder if I can pick a nice courtest car. Last time I had a car repaired, I got a Jag for a week.

That's worth denting your bumper then!
You suppose? didn't you sort out all this stuff with her before you gave her the keys.....?
Question Author
Boxy, she wasn't hiring the car, lol. She just borrowed it.
Question Author
Actually, cupid, I didn't like the Jag. It was a real old man's car.
so it was a she, but then this is Brighton so a she could be a he.

No one hurt I hope...
Question Author
No one hurt.

Very small scrape, two cars trying to squeeze past each other in a narrow space.
Just make sure it REALLY is a courtesy car you get to replace it whilst yours is being repaired and not a credit hire vehicle. Else lots of grief generally follows.....
Sounds as if you could get a garage that does bodywork to sort it out, much less costly
Question Author
Last time it was a hire car. It came from a company called something Europe, or European, or something. The other driver's insurance company divied up for it.
Question Author
Sibton ... apparently it's coz it's all plastic, or something, so it can't be straightened.

Besides ... I want a new one, not a mended one.
ok, trade it in for a newmodel and haggle x
