Asking For Food.

For a few weeks now I've noticed several anonymous posts on Facebook asking if anyone can help out as they are a bit short to buy food to feed the children... also help to feed the cats, help to feed the cats. I've just read someone asking for Doggy treats.. 

With food banks I'm surprised to see this type of post. People offer suggestions such as local church, local council .. I am beginning to wonder if some of these asks are genuine. 

It doesn't end there tho. Others ask for washing machines vacuums..one I saw the anonymous person had just decorated the kitchen.. asking for matching appliances. Microwave,toaster kettle in rose gold!!..specifying the colour.

I suspect that I don't need to say this, but I'll say it anyway; do not have anything to do with these requests. If you answer only one of them, you will be pestered for evermore.

I've seen posts asking for smart TVs and one was asking for a washing machine, must be black.

I can't understand people asking for food, but appliances are a different matter. I'm getting rid of my black appliances in the kitchen so if I saw a local post asking for a black washing machine or fridge I would rather it go to them than the tip. no one in this country is poor, they just spend what the generous benefit system gives them the wrong way. Also hungry children and pets are the entry level for scamming so steer well clear.

I never answer but watch how some people are so gullible..send me a pm I'll get you some food. Next they will be asking for cooked food, waitress service the lot.

AuntyPoll, I agree that a working washing is far better to be given away than scrapped but to specify a colour is very cheeky.

me fren' and me have got onto a suckers' list - 0333 number and it is a real pain - my mobile, his mobe and then the landline go off within about 30s - automated call.

Perterpedant I had a voice-mail message supposes to be from Tesco telling me my latest phone bill was underpaid by £5.  Ring a number they gave to pay it now to bring it up to date. Oh,  they DIDN'T say then we will reuse your card number..I just blocked the call.

No harm in asking I suppose. Some kind hearted individual may provide. But this nation is civilised enough to have a wefare safety net for those eligible. Unsure it provides rose gold coloured ketchen equipment though.
