Going along the theme of did you knows.....

Duchess de Polignac, one of Marie Antoinette's best friends, was the great, great, great grandmother of Prince Rainier III of Monaco. She and the Polignac family managed to escape the guillotine by travelling around Europe in exile in 1789 and eventually to Austria where she died of illness the same year as the Queen.

All them royal families are/were mixed up with each other, weren't they.

Yes they were in some form or other but not always clear as to the actual lineage connections.
For instance. We ended up with a German or Austrian who couldn't speak English (and wasn't too keen on the job, either)
But he must have been next in line?

Wasn't much of a choice to choose from but they all descended from James I and through his daughter, Elizabeth of Bohemia.
I'm afraid the European royals are all in the same gang. They were never bothered too much about which kingdom they has, as long as they had a kingdom.

and Marie-Antoinette herself was just 14 years old when she was married to the dauphin Louis, grandson of France's King Louis XV, on May 16, 1770.

Well at least they couldn't consumate the marriage until she was a adult.
Prince Rainier only got the job after a terrible five year drought.

I knew William & Mary were drafted in from Holland to maintain the Prod line (I think) It's mainly above my pay grade to be honest.

William was drafted in as king but Mary was next in line anyway.

Not necessarily, no one can know everything regardless of attending school (or truancing).
