Haggis is delicious, so why do the English and Americans not like it? OK, so it's made from offal and oatmeal cooked in a sheep's stomach, but so what? Caviar is just fish eggs when you think about it, and honey is insect vomit, yet these are regarded as delicacies.

I am Scottish and can't stand haggis, however my hubby is English and loves the stuff, so I don't think you can make such sweeping statements. By the way I think I've just gone off honey.
I'm English and I love haggis. They are just like big faggots (proper ones, not 'mince' balls). The only real problem is catching the blighters!!!
Catching haggis isn't easy at all....For those not aware of what the little blighters look like..have a click here:

One of the greatest stories I've seen on the BBC News Website appeared on my 21st birthday:
I'm target=_blank>http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3240190.stm>
I'm
English and I too like haggis. I agree that people seem to be too scared at the thought of eating some things which are perfectly natural. There is too much stigma attached to some foods!
No it shouldn't, it should be: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3240190.stm
I know what you are trying to say, but it does sound like a generalisation. My wife and I like haggis (not every week!) and we are English.
I hate haggis, I hate honey and I dont like fish eggs - to be honest I dont eat red meat and I dont eat any vegetables apart from Potatoes, I dont eggs or fish! - yes I am picky. But I am 5'10'' so My growth didnt suffer. I guess that all people have different tastes.......
There is a severe penalty for eating Haggis after the 25th January as this is the mating season, though I believe road-kill is allowed.

TW knows more than I do as he uses this method for his taxidermy.

Greedyfly what on earth is left for you to eat then.....tofu?
Regardless of what it tastes like, I presume that the ethics of eating it would depend on whether one is vegetarian or not.

Hey listen, sorry if I seemed to be generalising. I don't want to cause offence. I'm sure there's many English and American people who love haggis (not to mention a few traitorous renegade Scots - joking! - who hate it). The things is though, that it hasn't taken off in America the way (Italian) pizza has, or (German) burgers / hot dogs, or (Jewish) bagels, or Chinese or Indian meals. In other words, it hasn't found a mass popular urban market. Maybe if there had been more Scottish emigrants to New York, it might have been different. Just a thought.
Pizza, potatoes and Bread lol
Maybe the Scots just haven't got thier marketing act together, happysax.
born in yorkshire, love haggis. I have to buy them at the butchers as i don't have time to catch them myself. (love liver and onions, kidneys, black pudding, pork scratchings, scotch pies etc to name a few other foodstuffs that gets people turning their noses up)
PS....forgot to say...I think it's fair to say I am the most outspoken scot here....and to my eternal shame I can't stand the taste of haggis....I just have a bigger portion o' neeps and tatties.

Darth - the funny thing is, I hate offal type stuff like liver or kidney, yet I love haggis. Weird, eh? Sft - shame on you! :-)
sft wrote "I think it's fair to say I am the most outspoken scot here" - surely not! :-)
I'm Chinese and happen to think that haggis is delicious. But what's the deal with stabbing it with the dagger (something I read about)?
FYI vegitarian haggis is also amazing stuff, and I to am a Jock
