A vegetable dish is always a good bet (chow mein or chop suey) and go for boiled rice. Steer clear of prawn crackers, sweet and sour anything, spare ribs and anything fried!

Steamed options are generally better - dim sum starters like sui mai, or a tasty hot and sour soup - good bet anyway as it is filling and you won't have as much of the other stuff anyway.

Have boiled not fried rice. A stir fried dish will be a bit better as the cooking uses less oils/fat, and maybe stick to the veg option.

Steamed fish dishes are a good bet as well - nice and fresh flavours and usually with a good sauce for flavouring like simple ginger and lemon grass.

Say no to battered dishes, deep fried and thick sauces. And no deep fried banana fritter puddings either to finish...

sam......... just eat what you want!! how many fat chinese people do you know??

have a nice time!!

When i was on a Weightwatchers plan I treated myself to a chinese every week. Always vegetable dishes, as CheekyChops suggests, never affected my weight loss progress at all. Enjoy!!
It's always good to watch what you eat but one Chinese isn't going to kill anyone.
I generally don't like the taste of fatty food so I'd go with the above soup & boiled food advice, for future reference.

You can always ask the waiter.
