Does making ice cubes sanitize the water ?. I've been told that bars and restaurants in foreign countries use bottled water to make their ice but I believe they just use ordinary tap water.

When I worked as aircrew, I regularly stayed in Mumbai.

The quality hotel we used always left two glass bottles of water in the fridge, which I drank rather than the tap water.

One visit there was only one bottle. When it was empty I rang and asked for another. The man who came gave me a very funny look, went into the bathroom and filled the bottle from the tap.
Oh and no. Freezing water doesn't sanitise it.
As far as I'm aware, freezing water doesn't sanitise it.
I remember going on holiday ages ago and being advised not to have ice in my drinks, as there was a tendency for the locals to just use tap water.
Most of the bars and restaurants that I know buy prepackaged ice cubes in bulk from the same wholesalers they use for their drinks.
