If you starve one child that's a crime.

If you starve 1 million children that's Compassionate Conservatism.

Ah yes, but the great and the good will be along to tell you that it's all the fault of the parents and there were, apparently, no starving children during the war, etc.

Scant comfort to a child who hasn't eaten all day...
Nope, its bad parenting.
That was quick!
i must have been typing at the same time but much slower. :-)
I wouldn't bother if I was you Canary. Trying to get some folk to show compassion on thos issue is like trying to teach a cat to do tricks. You'll eventually get bored and it'll act all aloof before going to sleep.
Im guessing the parents must be starving as well then.
There may well be some UK children going hungry for various reason; however, I doubt very much that there are any starving children in the UK:

Yep! Ive seen it. But trying to discuss the point is futile because you see what you want to see and ignore anything that goes against your own narrative.
No (half decent) parent would leave their child starving.
As I said on another thread about this subject, they’re not going to tuck into their tea/dinner and say say ‘Sorry, kids, we weren’t given more money for your food, so you’ll be going hungry.’

That said, it would help a lot of families if they were given free school meals during the holidays.
There's a world of difference between hungry and starving.

If a child was "starving" and you gave it a piece of stale bread, the child would consume it without even thinking about it.

If there is a child starving out there, I would hope the parents were investigated for causing suffering and neglect.
There are certainly children (and adults) going hungry tho.
Perlease!
tell you what, why don;t all you hand wringers go round your local school and buy lunch for half a dozen kids eh? Heard a lot of whining but no actual dipping of hands in your skys. No One is starving in UK, end of.
It's very easy to become malnourished so it's more than hunger, it's health as well.

Teachers have said over and over again that kids who are not eating properly cannot concentrate. So hunger also effects their education.

I'll wait for someone to tell me that poor people don't try and educate their children. They just buy booze, fags and iphones....and watch daytime TV.

Another day, a different thread title and the same as all the other threads we will be divided.

I agree with LCG, there is a gulf between starving and hungry or having an inadequate diet.

In this current instance I think the scheme should be extended as was petitioned for.

A well reasoned, educated and thought out response from the resident ***!

TTT is amongst those who has been convinced by Poverty Porn on TV etc means that all who struggle are feckless boozed up addicts.
Plus, ending his guff with "end of" is proof beyond all reasonable doubt!
